Position: HSE Site Manager
Location: Bastia, Corsica, France
Start: April 2026 (ASAP)
Duration: Until the end of June, with possibility of extension
For our client, we are searching for an experienced HSE Site Manager to join a major HDD (Horizontal Directional Drilling) construction project in Bastia, Corsica. The role is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and enforcing Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards on site, while promoting a strong and proactive safety culture across all project activities.
Key Responsibilities
Implement, manage, and continuously improve the site HSE management system
Ensure full compliance with French HSE regulations and company standards
Prepare and maintain HSE documentation, including risk assessments, method statements, and safety plans
Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and safety walks
Deliver HSE training, inductions, and awareness initiatives for site personnel
Monitor incidents, near misses, and non-conformities, ensuring proper reporting and corrective actions
Liaise with clients, local authorities, and regulatory bodies on all HSE-related matters
Provide HSE support to daily operations, with a strong focus on risks associated with HDD activities
Requirements
Proven experience in HSE roles within construction and/or infrastructure projects
Experience working on international projects
Strong knowledge of French HSE regulations
Good command of English (written and spoken)
French language skills are an advantage
Experience with asbestos-related projects is a strong plus
Ability to work independently and manage complex site environments
Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
